Awakening
Opened Eyes
My father worked on top-secret Government projects, so we moved around a lot, but we always went to church no matter how far the church was. Our family was very strong in our faith. God always provided for our family. In our church, which is the Seventh-day Adventist Church, my parents were always involved with activities. My mother was in charge of arts and crafts, and my father was involved with the Pathfinders. Both of my parents also did a lot of Bible studies with people in the church and outside of the church, so our home always seemed like it had a revolving door. I got to help out my mother and father, while my little brother stayed mostly with my mother. My little brother was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. This cut off the oxygen to his brain, which made his thinking and understanding slow. They did not have the medical technology back then like they do now, because if they had, my brother’s birth would have been handled differently and he would not have been slow in his thinking.
In fact, he would have been what people call “normal.” My mother and father would always tell me that GOD made him very special. My mother kept my brother and me on a regular routine because any deviation from this routine would cause my brother to throw a fit. He never really spoke much, even when he got older. In fact, he was so quiet that we actually had to check up on him to make sure he was still around. My brother and I were both very sensitive to loud sounds, so a lot of the time when there was thunder and lightning, my parents would give me something to help me sleep. My brother, on the other hand, could sleep through anything once he fell asleep.
